The State College Downtown Rotary’s Ice Cream Fest celebrated its 11th year on Saturday, welcoming hundreds of people to the 200 and 300 blocks of South Allen Street for cold treats and family fun.

More than a dozen local and regional ice cream vendors offered up tastes, and proceeds from tickets purchased for samples go toward community grants provided by the club to local nonprofit organizations. The State College Rotary in May awarded 17 grants totaling $28,000.

The fun didn’t stop at ice cream. Activities included a petting zoo, pony rides, bounce house, face painting, axe throwing and sidewalk chalk. In addition to an appearance by Ike the Spike, activities and resource tables were provided by Alpha Fire Company, Schlow Library, Youth Service Bureau, Scouts Pack 31 and Troop 31, Doing Good with Wood, Jana Marie Foundation, Midstate Literacy Council, The Music Academy, Rotary Clubs of State College and Nittany Robotics.

The day also included other food options like cotton candy, hot dogs and pizza, and an ice cream eating contest.
